DIY Legal Services - You Get What You Pay For

Would you do your own surgery or choose a licensed surgeon?  More than 2 years ago we published a guest posting, Self-Representation: The Perils of PRO SE, and the risks of self-representation - and using DIY legal services - remain. 

While downloading forms for a small fee may seem like an economic route to managing your legal matters, oftentimes you'll pay more to untangle your legal mess than if you hired a licensed attorney to draft documents in the first place. 

Now, a class action suit in Missouri is targeting LegalZoom, a legal document production website, charging that its operators are engaging in the unauthorized practice of law.  We'll watch how this suit unfolds and keep you updated.  In the meantime when you need legal representation ask yourself whether it's worth the risk to download a form versus hiring experienced, aggressive, licensed and accountable legal counsel.
