Oswego credit card phone scam returns

Reported today in the Aurora Beacon News:

A phone scam which was first identified in Oswego in January has resurfaced in the community, Oswego police said.

Police said customers of several local banks have received automated phone calls from bank security departments asking them to call (909) 885-3883 to activate their credit card.

When that phone number is dialed an automated voice asks the caller to activate his credit card by providing his credit card number, expiration date and personal identification number, police said.

Police said this request for information is not associated with local banks. Officers urge anyone who has called the phone number and provided credit card information, to cancel their account immediately.

Any fraudulent credit card activity discovered due to information provided in this scam should be reported to residents' local police departments.

It's amazing how people get scammed with all the warnings out there. Can't they bust these people? Someone must be paying that phone bill!
